Sono Solo Canzonette, Edoardo Bennato
Sono Solo Canzonette (they're only little songs) is one of Edoardo's successes, the next being Burattino Senza Fili (pupett without strings). He shocked the record industry in 1980 by publishing two new albums within two weeks of eachother. "Sono solo canzonette" is another in a collection of songs that every Italian will be able to sing to you at the drop of a hat. His style is characterized by "foreign" American musical influence, especially the blues.
Find out more about Edoardo by visiting his official website www.bennato.com.
Buon Compleanno Elvis, Ligabue
An explosive album from one of Italy's top rock stars. Includes #1 radio hits such as "Hai un momento Dio" and "Certe Notte". Luciano Ligabue adds the powerful yet somber "Non badare il cantante" and "Leggero" to the amazing mix. You will not find a better rock album in all of Italy...guaranteed! (from mr_clean@ix.netcom.com)
If you liked this album, consider adding Ligabue's other albums to your collection: Sopravvissuti E Sopravvivi and Su e Giu' da un Palco.
Spirito, Litfiba
Litfiba is a band from Florence Italy whose rich melodic sounds and driving guitar are awesome both on CD and live in concert. The album Spirito could best be compared with the musical style and sounds of Pearl Jam and Collective Soul or Candlebox. The rhythm is pure rock and roll while the lyrics are smart and engaging. Spirito Di Vino, Zucchero
Although this is not the latest album from his large collection it's the most memorable. If you're not familiar with Zucchero's work, you'll be pleasantly surprised by his blues/funk/rock style. Listen to sound samples at Zucchero's Official Website. If you're just starting your Zucchero collection, stray away from the songs that he's either translated or sung originally in English. For some reason, his raspy style of belting out tunes works best in Italian.
